This overview will help Hampshire professionals and volunteers working with children and young people to consider Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), traumatic childhood events some children are exposed to growing up that have the potential to impact on their adult health and wellbeing. Crucially, the course will examine links between ACEs and domestic abuse. This course is an invaluable learning opportunity for all of our professionals who are committed to improving children's life outcomes.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Provide an introduction to ACEs
  • Understand the impact of ACEs on the development of the child/ young person
  • Explore how ACEs are linked to domestic abuse
  • Examine trauma informed practice when working with children and young people
  • Explore the triggers that can result in challenging behaviours
  • Know where to refer to for support
