An introductory session to raise awareness of child trafficking and modern slavery, enabling practitioners working with children to understand what trafficking is, the context and the different forms this takes.

The session will support front line staff to identify and understand some of the risks to children who have been trafficked and how to respond to protect these most vulnerable young people. The session will provide delegates with an introduction to the national legislation and processes that should be followed when presented with a child who has been trafficked.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understanding what human trafficking and modern slavery is
  • Identify the types of exploitation involved
  • Understanding the current legislative framework and processes that support victims
  • Build an awareness of where to go for more information on support services
