This session is aimed at multi-agency professionals across the HIPS area who will directly or indirectly come into contact with children and families.
The Unborn Baby Protocol is a multi-agency protocol which sets out how to respond to concerns for unborn babies and new born babies, with an emphasis on clear and regular communications between professionals working with the mother and her family where risk is identified.
This protocol provides a robust framework for responding to safeguarding concerns and safety planning by practitioners working together, with families, to safeguard the baby before, during and following birth. This protocol applies across Hampshire Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton (HIPS).
This multi-agency event is to launch the revised protocol and enable professionals:
- To revisit and refresh minds in relation to the HIPS wide unborn baby protocol
- To increase understanding as to each professionals role in utilising it
- To understand the key changes and additions made to the unborn baby protocol
- To share the new and revised tools available within the protocol and for professionals to understand how and when to use these
