This is an HSCP multi-agency workshop on the following Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton (HIPS) protocol: Bruising in Infants who are not Independently Mobile.

This workshop will be delivered by a Consultant Paediatrican along with colleagues from Hampshire Constabulary, Children's Services and Health. The workshop is fully funded and open to professionals/practitioners from all partner agencies; it is particularly relevant to:

  • Children's Services front-line professionals
  • Community and Acute Paediatricians
  • Emergency Department practitioners
  • Police Officers
  • Child Minders, Nursery and Pre-School Staff
  • Midwives
  • Health Visitors
  • Primary Care/GPs
  • Family Nurse Partnership

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the risks associated with bruising in infants who are not independently mobile including the evidence-base
  • Understand the referral pathway in the bruising protocol and how it protects children
  • Understand the importance of agencies working together to protect children
