Following the success of last year’s DSL conference and in response to feedback, this year’s event will be held virtually on Teams Live.
This year’s conference will focus on the journey of the child; addressing any safeguarding concerns and the importance of considering this within professional practice. Delegates will be challenged to think about how these safeguarding concerns could be addressed to improve outcomes for the child.
The conference will include learning from case reviews. We will narrate a child’s story, which professionals from Hampshire schools will link to operational contexts. By sharing the child’s story at various different points, professionals working within that key stage will be supported to reflect on the impact of their actions on the life chances of the child.
Additional speakers from Hampshire Children’s Service, Hampshire Constabulary and school colleagues at all phases, will provide further insights into how professionals can be empowered to work with other agencies to support effective information gathering and implement interventions for children where there are safeguarding concerns.
Hampshire Local Authority Designated Officers (LADOs) will provide key updates for the education sector.
Providing a delegate attends the whole day, this conference will satisfy the statutory refresher training for DSLs, as identified in KCSiE 2020.
