This introductory course will enable Hampshire professionals and volunteers working with children and young people to build their knowledge of Fabricated and Induced Illnesses (FII). The course will explain what FII is, how it might manifest and how professionals working with children might identify those suffering or, at risk of suffering. It will also start to explore how professionals need to respond.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Consider the spectrum of Fabricated or Induced Illnesses
  • Explore some of the research including facts and figures relating to Fabricated or Induced Illnesses
  • Focus on key practice points for working with cases of Fabricated or Induced Illnesses including feedback from children and young people
  • Gain an understanding of the complexities of working with cases/ suspected cases of Fabricated or Induced Illnesses
