This introductory course will help Hampshire professional's build knowledge and understanding of the importance of perinatal health and an increased awareness of some common perinatal mental health issues and the support available to parents and babies. This course is available for all professionals and volunteers, but might be of particular interest to health and social care professionals, staff in pre school settings, child minders and those working with families with expectant parents/parents of infants.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop a better understanding of perinatal mental health and the impact this has on parents and baby
  • Learn about common mental illnesses in the perinatal period
  • Understand the risks to parents and baby during this period
  • Identify protective and risk factors
  • Learn what support is available for parents and babies
