Detail:

This course provides an overview of how to recognise and respond to domestic abuse perpetrators.  It will help professionals identify the signs that someone might be a perpetrator - what might they say and what behaviours might they exhibit.  It will also assist professionals to understand their responsibilities and what constitutes a safe response to the suspicion that someone they encounter in their practice is a domestic abuse perpetrator. All professionals and volunteers working with children and young people in Hampshire may join this free course to improve their knowledge and confidence.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Know how to identify perpetrators and respond to disclosures or suspicions of abusive behaviour
  • Understand motivational interviewing, trauma informed practice and rolling with resistance
  • Build an awareness of specialist support available to perpetrators of domestic abuse and referral pathways

What previous delegates have said about this course:

“I had no knowledge of organisations supporting perpetrators and the best approach to work with them. It is very useful learning for my role.”

“I have a better understanding the perpetrator’s mind and can implement what we have been taught in how to deal with dangerous or heated situations.”

“It was good to have varying points of views from different professionals. The trainer was clearly passionate about her field, and this kept me engaged.”
