This introductory course, available to all Hampshire professionals and volunteers working with children and young people, is part of a series of courses examining harmful practices. The course will explain what breast flattening/ ironing is and who might carry it out, what makes a girl at risk of this practice, what the law says about it, how professionals can identify it is happening and how to respond if it is suspected.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand what breast flattening/ ironing is and the ways in which it is done
  • Explore some of the indicators of breast flattening/ironing and its prevalence
  • Consider the impact of breast flattening/ironing
  • Know how to respond to cases of/ suspected cases of breast flattening/ ironing
