Delegates attending this webinar will gain an understanding of when childhood obesity becomes a safeguarding concern and the role of professionals in identifying these concerns. This webinar explores the harm that excessive weight can cause for a child and the importance of professional curiosity regarding any other factors in the child’s life that may be putting them at risk of harm.

This webinar will support delegates in understanding the findings from the recent HIPS Obesity audit, as well as the current literature on this area of safeguarding. Delegates will be provided with information regarding the current heath services that are available to support children with excessive weight.   

 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Increase understanding of when childhood obesity becomes a safeguarding concern and the role of professionals in identifying this. 
  • Introduction to some of the literature and concepts to be aware of when safeguarding children with excessive weight. 
  • Gain awareness of the current health services available to support children with excessive weight.
