This introduction to 'child to parent' and 'adolescent to parent' violence will assist professionals to develop their understanding, assess potential impact and explore support mechanisms. The course is available to all professionals working with children and young people, including schools, nurseries, health colleagues and social worker/family support workers.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand what constitutes child to parent violence/adolescent to parent abuse and how they link to domestic abuse
  • Understand how to respond and support the parent and child who are living with CPV/APV and abuse, including acknowledgement of the difficulties parents face in reporting CPV/ APV
  • Develop an awareness of the impact of APV on the parent and CYP
  • Recognise the links between ACEs and CPV/APV
  • Be aware of sources of support and how to signpost to support
